North builds stronger networks and creates smarter places. Our intelligent technology solutions and robust network infrastructures transform the way people, places, and organisations work. And we focus our expertise on working in three specialist sectors: public services, enterprise & data centres, and defence & justice.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager to lead and develop a team delivering Data Centre Infrastructure and Physical Security projects across the UK and Europe. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the successful execution of multiple complex projects for leading enterprise clients, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and client satisfaction.

You will build and manage a high-performing team, own operational P&L accountability, and act as the senior point of contact for our clients across both critical infrastructure and security domains. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader with a passion for delivering large-scale infrastructure projects and driving operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a specialist team of project managers, engineers, and security professionals across multiple countries.

  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of Data Centre Infrastructure (fitouts, upgrades, cabling, power, cooling) and Physical Security projects (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection).

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and compliance standards.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, acting as their primary operational contact.

  • Take ownership of the operational P&L for the combined project portfolio, driving financial performance and margin improvement.

  • Implement best practices, standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize delivery efficiency.

  • Ensure full compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, CPNI, GDPR) and health & safety regulations.

  • Manage risks and resolve project escalations, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum client satisfaction.

  • Report regularly to senior leadership on project performance, financials, risks, and opportunities.

    Qualifications

    Skills & Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience in project or operations management within data centres, critical infrastructure, or physical security environments.

  • Proven track record leading multi-site projects across the UK and Europe.

  • Strong technical knowledge of both:

    • Data Centre Infrastructure (power, cooling, cabling, fitouts)

    • Physical Security Systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection)

  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams.

  • Experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, and financial reporting.

  • Strong client management skills, with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.

  • Deep understanding of compliance frameworks and standards including ISO 27001, CPNI, GDPR, and health & safety regulations.

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, both written and verbal.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PSP, or CPP certification.

  • Familiarity with smart buildings, IoT security technologies, and emerging infrastructure solutions is highly desirable.

  • Multilingual skills (e.g., English plus French, German, or Spanish) are an advantage.

    Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel across UK and Europe as required to support project delivery and client engagements.

    Why Join Us?

  • Lead high-profile projects for top-tier clients in a rapidly growing sector.

  • Work with a passionate, expert team delivering cutting-edge infrastructure and security solutions.

  • Opportunity for career progression in a pan-European leadership role.

North rewards employees with a competitive market salary and an excellent benefits package and offers fantastic opportunities for progression throughout the company. Further details of package on offer will be discussed at application stage.
