Tetra Tech, a global leader in high-end consulting and engineering services, is partnering with Hays Recruitment to hire Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineers for their Building Services team in Belfast. This expert team delivers comprehensive mechanical and electrical engineering solutions, providing design and installation services across a range of sectors including Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and Defence. With a long-standing presence in Northern Ireland, Tetra Tech has a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects throughout the region.

Role

In this role, you will lead and deliver multiple medium to large-scale projects, encompassing all facets of design within mechanical engineering consultancy services. You will be responsible for undertaking calculations, producing drawings, specifications and reports, conducting site surveys, managing construction stage duties, liaising with clients, and consulting with design/construction teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production and review of detailed design calculations for all aspects of mechanical design
  • Production of specifications and plant schedules
  • Creation of design notes, basis of design, and RIBA stage reports
  • Development of design drawings from concept to detailed design
  • Conducting detailed site surveys and installation inspections
  • Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers
  • Input into estimates and bid processes
  • Supporting directors with resource planning and team workload management
What you\'ll need to succeed
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
  • Strong project management skills across full project lifecycle
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Commercial awareness and cost control understanding
  • Leadership qualities and team development experience
  • Expertise in Mechanical Engineering and low carbon design
  • Proficiency in Revit and Navisworks; MagiCAD experience desirable
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
