We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our experienced MEP team at our office in Winchester. This role requires solid experience in design and extensive technical knowledge of building services installations.


As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will deliver successful projects across a range of sizes and sectors including residential, development and regeneration, healthcare, education, commercial, and more. Your responsibilities include managing project work, undertaking detailed design to required standards, and delivering excellent client service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and, for smaller projects, manage electrical engineers and specialists.
  • Supervise and monitor the work of others in mechanical services design.
  • Engage with clients to incorporate stakeholder requirements and develop strong relationships.
  • Complete mechanical QA reviews to ensure compliance with technical requirements, industry regulations, and client briefs.
  • Advise clients on energy use and conservation to minimise environmental impact and carbon emissions.
  • Use specialist CAD, BIM (Revit), and engineering software such as Hevacomp and IES for design and calculations.
  • Produce reports, drawings, and specifications for RIBA design stages.
  • Liaise with structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors.
  • Attend project group and technical meetings.
  • Ensure design and maintenance comply with legislative and health & safety requirements.
  • Mentor and manage junior engineers and apprentices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience and technical knowledge in mechanical and building services design from a consultant or contractor background.
  • Accredited relevant degree or higher qualification (HNC/HND).
  • CEng status.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and a strong desire to deliver high standards of client care.
