Based in our office a stone’s throw from Borough Market in the heart of Southwark’s thriving Bankside, our welcoming and diverse team are working on some of the most prestigious and innovative projects in the UK and across the world. From sustainability focused offices and commercial premises to cutting-edge healthcare facilities and from award-winning retail developments to major new residential communities, you’ll have the opportunity to play a major role in delivering schemes across a huge range of sectors.


An opportunity has arisen within Waterman Building Services London, for the position of Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer. Working as a key member of the team, you will be provided with the autonomy to design Mechanical services in many sectors of the industry and be client facing, representing the Company.


As principal engineer in our building services team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading multidisciplinary projects from start to completion.
  • Manages interaction with clients/ design team members.
  • Overseeing technical delivery and ensuring projects meet quality, compliance, and performance standards.
  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Driving innovation and best practices across the mechanical/electrical discipline.
  • Contributes to recruitment, retention, and development of top engineering talent.
  • Representing Waterman at industry events, builds and maintains relationships with industry colleagues.


What we’re looking for:

  • Significant experience in mechanical/electrical building services design across regulated sectors.
  • Proven ability to influence engineering outcomes and lead design teams.
  • Strong proficiency with MagiCAD, Relux, Amtech/ EOM, AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Chartered status or working towards it.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and a passion for delivering technically excellent, sustainable designs.
