Your new company
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation within the commercial decarbonisation and offsite energy solutions sector. With operations spanning the UK, Ireland, and Europe, they are well established in designing and delivering innovative low‑carbon and prefabricated mechanical and energy systems. Their Birmingham (Solihull) office is home to a growing multidisciplinary design function, responsible for creating coordinated, build‑ready solutions that support the transition towards sustainable, low‑carbon technologies.


Responsibilities

  • Leading mechanical design delivery across multiple commercial projects
  • Producing schematics, engineering calculations, plant selections, bills of materials and specifications
  • Developing and validating BMS/control strategies from design through to on‑site implementation
  • Supporting coordinated design development with internal and external stakeholders

Role details

This is a full‑time role working Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-3pm, reporting directly to the Head of Design.


What you\'ll need to succeed

  • Significant experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally within building services, energy systems, or decarbonisation solutions
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems, low‑carbon technologies, and prefabricated/offsite design approaches
  • Proficiency in producing detailed mechanical calculations and technical documentation
  • Experience developing BMS or control strategy designs
  • The ability to lead design delivery while supporting and guiding junior engineers
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
