Our client, a leader in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a Mechanical Assembler to join their dynamic team in Havant on a contract basis.

Job Purpose:

To carry out mechanical assembly and testing of precision-engineered components and systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Assemble mechanical components and systems according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
Perform functional and pressure testing of assembled units using appropriate tools and equipment.
Identify and report any non-conformances or defects during assembly or testing.
Maintain accurate records of build and test results, including traceability documentation.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical issues.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the cell and wider production environment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Required Skills & Experience:

Proven experience in mechanical assembly and testing, ideally within a defence, aerospace, marine, or heavy engineering environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and method sheets.
Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges).
Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems is desirable.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Basic computer literacy for documentation and reporting.

Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Apprenticeship in mechanical fitting or similar is advantageous

Working Conditions:

Workshop-based role with occasional lifting and manual handling.
PPE must be worn at all times.
May require occasional overtime or shift work depending on project demands.
