Project Overview

After the Riots: Civil Society Responses in an Era of Populism and Polarisation


We are seeking applicants with a background in related social science disciplines that include but are not limited to Geography, Social Policy, Sociology, Politics, Social Psychology, and Economics. The project supports the university strategy of creating high‑quality research and impact.


Responsibilities

  • Support the development of research and innovation environment and culture.
  • Work on applied and impactful research addressing regional, national and global challenges.
  • Develop new funding proposals and external impact activities.
  • Provide systematic literature review, prepare research proposals for national funders.
  • Support mixed‑methods research, including qualitative thematic analysis, semi‑structured interviews, case studies, participant observation.
  • Prepare academic research outputs, including articles for journals.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • PhD or near completion, or equivalent post‑graduate research qualification.
  • Experience undertaking research in a team, with significant freedom to drive research activities.
  • Strong qualitative research skills and familiarity with mixed‑methods approaches.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, and publication processes.
  • Knowledge of and institutional affiliation with fields such as Geography, Social Policy, Sociology, Politics, Social Psychology, Economics.
