Devon Partnership Trust have anexciting opportunity to work as a Plumber / Mechanical Fitter as part of a team inthe maintenance of building, carpentry and electrical services in healthcareproperties.

This will involve working ina wide range of healthcare and associated premises in both new and existingbuildings. You will work flexibly, usingyour own initiative and with the minimum amount of supervision.

There is an expectation for the appointedcandidate to be self-motivated and able to manage their own workflow, as forthe majority of the day you will be working on your own, although there will bea requirement to work with other trades from time to time.

A full driving licence is an essentialrequirement due to the geographical area covered.

This role is currently subject to Job Evaluation.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities for therole are to:

Plan, organise and prioritise own workflow within a range agreedwith the Maintenance Supervisor.

To be able to problem solveand diagnose faults to find a solution. Installation and or repair andmaintenance of physical assets.

Maintain and repair Trustproperty and equipment.

To work under own initiativefor the majority of the working day

To be competent in allaspects of Plumbing and Mechanical works and to be able to work on your own or as part of amulti-disciplinary team. Planning and prioritising the workload inconjunction with the Maintenance Supervisor.

Compliance with safe systemsof work within relevant Health & Safety Regulations

To establish and maintaingood relationships and effective team working which will include supportingcolleagues in order that the Estates Department is able to provide the full range of high quality estates services to both the Devon Partnership Trust and its client Trusts.

Undertake surveys or audits as necessary to own work and regularly undertake equipment testing. Participates is surveys and audits and undertakes acceptance and testing of new equipment.

Job responsibilities

To work as a Plumber / Mechanical fitter as part of a team in the maintenance of building, carpentry and electrical services in healthcare properties. This will involve working in a wide range ofhealthcare and associated premises in both new and existing buildings. You will work flexibly, using your owninitiative and with the minimum of supervision.For the majority of your day you will be working on your own althoughthere will be a requirement to work with Installs, maintains, services and repairs a range of equipment usedwithin their trade

Maintains equipment, fabric, utility services of Trust properties asper their trade other trades from time to time. A full driving licence is an essentialrequirement due to the geographical area covered.

The Estates Department is a multi-disciplinary department employingapproximately 26 staff including a team of directly employed maintenance staffof various disciplines.

Person SpecificationQualifications

  • Knowledge of a full range of trade procedures acquired through relevant trade apprenticeship such as City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in plumbing / mechanical installation work, plus relevant or equivalent experience thorough trade knowledge, skills and understanding to carry out a comprehensive range of practical duties
  • Practical, theoretical and relevant statutory experience relevant to plumbing / mechanical installation work.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team and with the minimum of supervision
  • Tact and diplomacy as required
  • Ability to prioritise and work to conflicting demands.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations.
  • Experience in qualifications in Confined space, working at heights, asbestos awareness
  • Knowledge of trades beyond own discipline
  • Experience of working within healthcare properties.
  • Experience in an Estates related environment.
  • Knowledge of minor electrical installations.

Experience

  • EXPERIENCE
  • Practical, theoretical and relevant statutory experience relevant to plumbing and mechanical installation work.
  • Generating plant basic maintenance.
  • Hot and cold water services, including water mixing valves.
  • A knowledge of commercial / domestic heating systems.
  • Heating and associated plant and electronic control equipment.
  • Experience of working within healthcare properties.
  • Experience in an Estates related environment.
  • Alarm system testing, e.g. fire alarm, nurse call, and staff safety and security systems.
  • Kitchen and catering equipment.
  • Mechanical/electrical hospital beds.
  • Any other services and equipment associated with healthcare premises.
