Our physiotherapy team at Bournemouth Nuffield Hospital currently have an opportunity for a physiotherapy assistant. The job will be a 50/50 split between physiotherapy assistant ward work and admin and office reception cover. To support the clinical team to deliver high quality patient care to our patients to optimise their post-operative recovery and well-being. The role is for 30 hours, to work flexibly over a 4 day period, from Tuesday to Friday, with possible weekend cover, depending on service requirements.


As our Physiotherapy Assistant you will:

  • Deliver high quality, effective clinical care under the supervision of our registered physiotherapists and nursing staff on the ward.
  • Promote multi-disciplinary working alongside therapy and nursing teams.
  • Carry out IT admin duties e.g scanning, booking appointments, registering patients, answering the phone, billing etc.
  • Ensure that all clinical records are accurately maintained and conform to all legal requirements
  • Complete administrative duties and telephone work to support the physiotherapy team to enable smooth and efficient care throughout the patient journey.
  • Be responsible for reviewing and reporting stock level and supplies to ensure the clinical environment is fit for purpose.
  • Assist with cleaning of physiotherapy equipment and infection prevention.

To succeed as a Physiotherapy Assistant, you will need:

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Health and Social Care, this can also be acquired whilst in post.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting, ideally in a health care support or therapy assistant.
  • To be enthusiastic and motivated with a can do attitude and able to work with own initiative.
  • Highly organised and flexible.
  • Confident with IT, and able to work in a busy environment.
  • Confident with administrative tasks.
