Job Summary

This position is open only to NHS employees working in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly. Eligible applicants must currently work for one of the following organisations: Cornwall Foundation Trust, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, or Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board. Applicants who are not current employees of these organisations will not be considered.


We are seeking two highly skilled and motivated Physiotherapists to deliver assessment and treatment to patients across East Cornwall, including at patients’ homes and care settings. The role supports the Early Intervention Home First Team and the Community Rehabilitation Team to promote patients’ independence, recovery and wellbeing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Providing specialist physiotherapist assessment and interventions tailored to patients’ individual needs.
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective and timely care.
  • Supervising and supporting junior staff, contributing to their development within the service.
  • Managing a defined caseload of patients with complex needs within the community setting using evidence‑based practice and patient‑centred principles.
  • Performing advanced assessments of patients, including those with highly complex presentations, and formulating diagnosis and treatment plans.
  • Acting as the first point of contact to prevent hospital admissions and facilitate early discharge.
  • Having an active role in the triage of new referrals coming into the teams.
  • Providing leadership and support for junior staff through supervision, training, and appraisal, and leading physiotherapy students.
  • Participating in the planning and development of physiotherapy services.
  • Covering a 7‑day rota.
  • Modeling and delivering excellent evidence‑based clinical care as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Supporting the community rehabilitation and re‑ablement model in line with a ‘one workforce’ culture across services, settings, and sectors.

Person Specification – Essential

  • Professional qualification – Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • Current professional registration – HCPC.
  • Post‑graduate qualification to diploma level or equivalent relevant experience or evidence of professional knowledge acquired through specialist courses.
  • High level of specialist assessment and treatment skills.
  • Broad postgraduate experience in medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and neurological settings.
  • A broad range of clinical experience in a variety of community and inpatient settings.
  • Extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Comprehensive experience of working as a physiotherapist with patients with complex conditions.

Person Specification – Desirable

  • Good teaching ability / education experience providing training in a range of subjects on a regular basis.
