Job responsibilities

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join inpatient Therapy Hub team, based at the Atherleigh Park Hospital, Leigh. This is a permanent, full-time post, mainly covering Monday to Friday. However, this may include some weekend and evening work as the department covers a 7-day service between the hours of 08.00 and 20.00. We will consider flexible/part time working hours. The applicant should be able to demonstrate relevant experience and desirably have relevant mental health experience.


Responsibilities

  • Manage a daily caseload of clients with acute and complex mental health and physical healthcare needs.
  • Complete a range of assessments and treatment plans to contribute to discharge planning.
  • Under the guidance of the Unit's Specialist Physiotherapist, contribute to planning, development and evaluation of physiotherapy services within the inpatient unit.
  • Contribute to falls projects and staff training within the service area.
  • Provide learning support to Physiotherapy and AHP students as part of the role.

  • Essential - Education / Qualifications

    • Degree in Physiotherapy / HCPC registered


  • Desirable - Education / Qualifications

    • Member of CSP
    • Clinical Educator Qualification


  • Essential - Experience

    • Experience of working with a range of conditions (e.g., neurological, MSK)
    • Experience of working with older people
    • Evidence of CPD and lifelong learning


  • Desirable - Experience

    • Experience supervising support staff/students
    • Experience working with people with mental health conditions


  • Essential - Knowledge

    • Broad knowledge of current best practice for Physiotherapy in mental health
    • Knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques
    • Knowledge of clinical risk assessment and risk management guidelines


  • Desirable - Knowledge

    • Understanding of assessment tools used in mental health services
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation in mental health


  • Essential - Skills & Abilities

    • IT literate
    • Ability to manage own caseload, prioritise and delegate effectively
    • Clear written, verbal and non-verbal communication, including processing complex and sensitive information
    • Ability to complete subjective and objective assessments and formulate an appropriate treatment plan
