Job Summary

Are you an experienced HCPC registered Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapist looking for a new or additional role with career development opportunities? This part‑time role involves 24 hours per month at HMP Millsike, a new, all‑electric resettlement prison in Full Sutton, Yorkshire. You will assess and treat a range of MSK pathologies, including some complex and/or chronic presentations, using advanced diagnostic and treatment skills, working within the MDT and maintaining records as an autonomous practitioner.


You will be part of a forward‑thinking, innovative health care team (GPs, nurses, pharmacists, podiatrists, mental health professionals) and the wider MSK Health in Justice Team across the country.


Main duties of the job

  • Provide outstanding evidence‑based care, listening to and acting on patient feedback so care is personalised and informed by what matters to patients, focusing on both planned and unplanned care.
  • Deliver non‑judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries, actively participate in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, always considering safeguarding.
  • Inspire excellence in colleagues by proactively managing MSK conditions and motivating the wider team to identify patients presenting with red‑flag symptoms. Forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider prison service.
  • Promote best practice, evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of reflection and shared learning.
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, supporting clinical and non‑clinical colleagues to do a great job.
  • Be responsible for own caseload and waiting list and work autonomously.
  • Receive close support and mentoring from the Clinical Lead, plus a well‑developed appraisal system, in‑service training and funding for external clinical courses to continue professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Physiotherapy qualification and HCPC registered.
  • Experience in assessing and treating MSK conditions, including complex or chronic presentations.
  • Advanced MSK diagnostic and treatment skills.
  • Ability to work within an MDT and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
  • Willingness to learn and develop.
  • Experience of NHS work and knowledge of national pathways desirable.
  • Knowledge of Systm1 desirable.
  • CSP member desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Up to £48,951 per annum pro‑rata depending on experience.
