Band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapist – Ashford and St Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust


Overview

Permanent position available for a current or aspiring Band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapist. The post holder will work across all neonatal and paediatric physiotherapy services within the Trust, gaining experience in neonates, infants, children and adolescents. The role is funded for 37.5 hours, with part‑time and flexible working considered.


Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients with a wide range of paediatric, musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions.
  • Develop, deliver and continually evaluate individualized physiotherapy treatment plans based on current evidence‑based practice and shared care goals.
  • Provide inpatient care including respiratory, developmental reviews, post‑operative orthopaedic and rehabilitation on the medical ward, day unit, Level 3 NICU, SCBU and postnatal wards.
  • Lead a paediatric musculoskeletal outpatient caseload at St Peter’s Hospital and Woking Leisure Centre.
  • Run hydrotherapy, rehab clinics, gym classes and appointments at Woking Leisure Centre and Egham Orbit.
  • Actively participate in specialist orthopaedic, cystic fibrosis, Baileys IV, developmental and rheumatology clinics.
  • Provide physiotherapy‑led orthopaedic services for Ponseti and serial casting clinics.
  • Support the development of the service and provide excellent care to service users and families.

Qualifications

  • Qualified physiotherapist (BSc/MSc) specialising in paediatrics or related fields.
  • Experience working with paediatric respiratory conditions is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of investigative and analytical skills for diagnosing paediatric conditions.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning and ability to formulate treatment plans for children born prematurely up to 17 years old.
