Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Technician (Level 1) to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting skilled Mechanical Technicians with assembling and testing pumps, boosters, valves and systems used within the oil and gas industry, ensuring all products meet strict quality, safety, and engineering standards. This role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to read technical documentation, and a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical pump components including air drive pistons, cycle valve spools, seals, bearings, pressure section pistons.
  • Build pumps to engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Support & Assembly:Assisting skilled technicians with complex assembly of mechanical parts and aligning components based on technical instructions.
  • Use hand tools, torque tools, and assembly fixtures correctly and safely
  • Carry out dimensional checks and inspections during and after assembly
  • Perform functional and pressure testing using pressure test rigs up to 80Kpsi
  • Trouble shoot, report, and help resolve assembly issues, defects, or non-conformances
  • Ensure all work complies with company quality procedures, ISO standards, and oil & gas industry requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working with high pressure equipment
  • Experience assembling pumps, or pressure-containing equipment
  • Previous experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy engineering environments
  • Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

Fully site based

  • Experience in mechanical assembly, fitting, or production engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Confident using hand tools and measuring equipment (e.g. torque wrenches, verniers, micrometres)
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Good understanding of health and safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Methodical and organised approach to work
  • Committed to quality and continuous improvement
