We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical / Plumbing / Heating & Ventilation Technician to join our estates maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in delivering high quality workmanship and enjoys a varied, hands on role.

As Mechanical Technician you will provide a high-quality operation and maintenance service to the full range of the Groups varied buildings. The University campus offers the opportunity to work in a varied and vibrant environment.

You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, installations, fault finding and repair work across a range of mechanical building services systems. This includes plumbing systems, heating plant, ventilation systems, pipework, pumps, valves and associated equipment.

You will work as part of a supportive team, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all mechanical systems across our sites.

Duties will include.

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on mechanical, heating and ventilation systems.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults on plumbing, HVAC and mechanical plant.
  • Installing pipework, valves, pumps, and heating components to a high standard and in line with current regulations.
  • Carrying out ventilation maintenance including air handling units, fans, and ductwork.
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety procedures and industry regulations.
  • Working effectively as part of the engineering team, supporting colleagues and contractors where required.
  • Providing excellent customer service and maintaining accurate job documentation.
  • Participate in out of hours call out scheme.
Our Successful Candidate

We are looking for experienced Mechanical Technician who is experienced in carrying out work, including servicing and maintenance on Mechanical systems, such as plumbing systems, heating plant, ventilation systems, pipework, pumps, valves and associated equipment.

You will demonstrate the ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical drawings as well as awareness of safety legislation.

You will require an NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Plumbing/Mechanical Engineering.

You will be able to demonstrate strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, ability to manage workloads effectively using a mobile device.

As this role involves working across multiple locations, you must be willing and able to travel to remote campus buildings, including Scarborough, Milton Keynes, Central London, and Dagenham, to support operations managers. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
