Mechanical Technician


Salary: £37,791


Location: Widnes


Hours: Days Only (Mon-Fri)


gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Mechanical Fitter / Technician / Craftsman to work at their facility based near Widnes.


Responsibilities

  • Design, select, maintain and install mechanical equipment
  • Carry out mechanical preventive maintenance
  • Fault location / diagnosis / repair
  • Undertake confined space training
  • Undertake First Aid training
  • Participate in the site Emergency Response team
  • Participate in various improvement initiatives
  • Overtime available after 40 hours per week; overtime premium rates apply (time and a half Mon-Sat, double time on Sundays)
  • On-call rota (one week in four) covering critical breakdowns

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Must hold apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in a Mechanical discipline (e.g., NVQ level 3 or C&G Apprenticeship). Further relevant qualifications are advantageous
  • Good computer skills are essential
  • Experience of using preventive maintenance software is an advantage
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act is essential
  • Experience in the chemical industry is not vital but a manufacturing background is advantageous
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge (5S, Kaizen & 7 wastes) advantageous
  • Experience with metal and/or plastic fabrication, rotating equipment overhauls, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and pipework/flange making or breaking
  • Knowledge of steam boiler and air compressor plant
