Overview

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Coppermills Water Treatment Site. As a successful candidate, you will use your mechanical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient and timely manner with minimum supervision to ensure our sites remain operational for our customers. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water'. environmental impact, helping to reduce pollution from our sites.

What you’ll be doing
  • Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
  • Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Work on equipment including motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3‑phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Completing statutory checks as required.
  • Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.

Base Location: Coppermills - East London - E17 7HE

Working Pattern: 3x8 Hours Monday - Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus standby & overtime opportunity increasing earnings by a potential £8,000-£10,000.

All PPE, Tools and Van are Provided.

You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering.

  • A problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or escalate if required.
  • An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
  • Resilient, adapting to the pressures of work and working in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
  • Team player who can work in many different teams, showing respect for others, providing helpful feedback and supporting the development of others.
  • Full UK driving licence.
