Mechanical Technician
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician ideally with experience in an Oil & Gas, Utilities or Plant setting to maintain the integrity of mechanical systems across our COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage terminals and pipeline systems. Youll play a key role in ensuring operational safety, plant availability, and regulatory compliance.
Salary : £30,000 - £35,000 + standby allowance + Bonus + company van + benefits (Full UK driving license is required)
Key Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical systems, ensuring 98% plant availability.
Lead and document planned maintenance schedules using the companys asset management system.
Respond to breakdowns, including participation in a 24/7 call-out rota.
Conduct fault-finding on mechanical and EC&I systems within competency.
Supervise and issue permits under Permit to Work system.
Support engineering projects from planning through execution.
Engage with emergency services and statutory bodies during incidents.
Source and manage suppliers for maintenance requirements.
What do we need from you:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical discipline OR significant demonstrable mechanical experience.
Practical understanding of Health & Safety in industrial environments.
Experience in fault analysis, maintenance, and emergency response.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
Comfortable working under pressure and outside of regular hours when required.
Desirable:
Completed indentured mechanical apprenticeship.
Previous experience in hazardous process industries (COMAH sites preferred).
