Mechanical Team Coordinator


Location: Manchester


Contract Type: Permanent


Salary: £36k

Shifts: Rotating Early & Late (Mon-Fri)


Job Overview

We are looking for a Mechanical Team Coordinator to lead and collaborate with a small team within a heavy engineering depot. This is a working lead position - around 90% on the tools and 10% coordinating work, completing basic reports, and supporting the Team Manager.


You will still get your hands dirty every day, but you will also be responsible for helping your team hit safety, quality, and production targets.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a small team conducting mechanical rebuilds and inspections.
  • Allocate daily tasks and complete basic admin (Excel skills beneficial).
  • Maintain a safe, efficient, and high‑quality workshop environment.
  • Mentor newer fitters and support team development.

What We are Looking For

  • Background in mechanical fitting, vehicle repair, HGV, or plant maintenance.
  • Some experience leading or mentoring others on the shop floor.
  • Organised, dependable, and hands‑on – you will be setting the pace for your team.
  • Time‑served or Level 3 qualified in mechanical engineering.

Shifts & Overtime

  • Early Shift: Mon‑Thurs 06:00‑14:30, Fri 06:00‑13:30
  • Late Shift: Mon‑Thurs 14:00‑22:30, Fri 10:30‑18:00
  • Regular overtime and weekend shifts available + rate increase on weekends.
