Equans is looking for a Mechanical Supervisor to join our team at Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working on average 37.5 hours per week. This critical role supports the continuous and safe operation of mechanical systems and infrastructure within high-dependency hospital environments—including theatres, critical ventilation systems, medical gases, and more.

You will be responsible for supervising and undertaking planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and small project works. The role includes managing day-to-day operations, ensuring statutory compliance, leading specialist training efforts, and helping maintain high standards of service delivery across Equans facilities.

What will you deliver?
  • Supervise and execute mechanical maintenance and minor works, including pressure systems, HVAC, water systems, medical gases, and fabric repair.
  • Respond swiftly and efficiently to unplanned/emergency tasks to maintain service continuity and avoid financial penalties.
  • Manage planned preventative maintenance schedules and update records accordingly.
  • Control and issue shift rotas and coordinate out-of-hours (OOH) service cover.
  • Review risk assessments and method statements, issuing Permits-to-Work when required.
  • Liaise professionally with clients (including NHS representatives) and support the Technical Services Manager in procurement and stock control.
  • Carry out quality checks and complete documentation (digital and hard copies) accurately.
  • Maintain tools, workspaces, vans, and equipment in a clean and functional condition.
  • Undertake specialist training and attain up to three Authorised Person (AP) appointments relevant to site needs.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and compliance with EQUANS health and safety protocols.

Who are we looking for?
  • Must have successfully completed a recognised Mechanical apprenticeship and have previous experience in a similar role carrying out mechanical maintenance duties.
  • Hospital maintenance experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Be competent to supervise/undertake/assist/work on the type of building service systems and equipment for which the appointment is sought.
  • Be familiar with the type of systems and equipment on which work is required to be undertaken.
  • Possess technical knowledge and sufficient experience to avoid any danger that may be presented by the work to be undertaken.
  • Have an adequate knowledge of and within the preceding three years have received training in first aid (including CPR Training). If not held, training will be given.
  • Desirable but not essential to have some knowledge of all the relevant Scottish Health Technical Memoranda (SHTM) and to work within Permit to Work procedures as appropriate (SHTM 01 - 08, BSRIA, L8, pressure systems Regulations 2000, etc).
  • Successful postholder must be able to obtain and maintain Disclosure Scotland to a PVG Level.
