Mechanical Supervisor – Equans UK & Ireland


A permanent full‑time role based in Lincolnshire, supervising mechanical works on heating systems, including Air Source Heat Pumps for social housing across the region. 40 hours per week with a competitive salary and benefits package.


General Overview

The Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, coordination and delivery of mechanical works on site to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. This includes overseeing installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and pipework. The postholder acts as the key link between site management, subcontractors and the workforce to ensure all mechanical activities comply with company procedures, industry standards and statutory regulations.


What you will do

  • Supervise and coordinate all mechanical installation works on site, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications and health and safety requirements.
  • Plan and allocate work to mechanical operatives and subcontractors, monitoring progress and resolving issues that may impact project delivery.
  • Carry out quality inspections, ensuring mechanical systems meet project standards and client expectations.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Site Managers and other discipline supervisors to coordinate multi‑trade activities.
  • Support commissioning processes and ensure accurate documentation, including test sheets and handover records.
  • Identify and report any design or technical issues to engineering teams for resolution.
  • Ensure all works are undertaken in line with method statements, risk assessments and permit‑to‑work systems.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to apprentices and junior team members.
  • Promote a positive safety culture on site, ensuring compliance with company HSEQ procedures.

Essential qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising mechanical installation works within construction or building services environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of heating systems.
  • Good understanding of HSEQ principles and ability to implement safe systems of work.
  • Experience of reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.

Desirable qualifications

  • Valid CSCS card (Supervisory or Manager level).
  • Gas Safe Registered.
  • Experience working within social housing, public sector or large‑scale commercial projects.
  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • Familiarity with digital site management systems (e.g. Field View, Viewpoint).
