Salary: Competitive starting salary range from £40,515 up to £46,071 per annum (dependent upon experience) with potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered.

This position is based in Coventry University Enterprises Limited, a sister company of Coventry University and part of the Coventry University Group.

The Role

As the Mechanical Services Manager, you will oversee and supervise the mechanical services team and contractors, ensuring that statutory, planned, and reactive maintenance is delivered to both the main and remote campuses in line with agreed SLAs. Your responsibilities will include setting up and renewing contractor provisions for managing compliance of mechanical systems including natural gas, water, F Gas, HVAC etc. and the BMS, managing the team's workload using the Planon CAFM system (training provided), and ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.

You will also be responsible for meeting and greeting contractors, explaining issues to facilitate effective repair solutions, ensuring value for money, and managing health and safety requirements. This role is hands-on, requiring you to actively support and mentor mechanical technicians and apprentices, lead responses to emergency mechanical issues, and audit contractors' work.

Our Successful Candidate

This role would suit experienced mechanical services managers, mechanical supervisors, or senior technicians ready to step into a managerial role. You should have a background in managing and maintaining mechanical installations.

Ideally, you will hold qualifications equivalent to HNC/NVQ Level 3 or have demonstrable equivalent experience managing compliance of mechanical systems including natural gas, water, F Gas, HVAC etc. and the BMS. Training may be provided to address minor gaps in experience.

This role is varied and demanding, requiring adaptability and the ability to handle evolving tasks daily. This position offers an ever-changing work environment where no two days are alike, requiring flexibility to shifting priorities.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with mechanical technicians, leading investigations and diagnosing mechanical issues to ensure efficient and effective solutions.

As this role involves working across multiple locations, you must be willing and able to travel to remote campus buildings, including Scarborough, Milton Keynes, Central London, and Dagenham, to support operations managers. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
