Accountable for: Maintenance support and tactical execution of asset and reliability activities; to provide professional engineering support for the maintenance and reliability of I&E systems to ensure compliance with site standards and external regulatory requirements. To play a role in identifying and implementing I&E improvements to reliability, maintainability, safety, increase rate & quality and reduce costs.


Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Completes moderately complex value-added preventive maintenance investigations as directed by the Reliability and Integrity Leader
  • Requests Reliability Technicians investigations, selecting the applicable predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies
  • Assists the Project Engineering team to examine the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations
  • participate, audit and improve meetings, as required by the OE&R process
  • Consistently applies root-cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA) techniques to investigate moderately complex reliability issues
  • Provides Technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel as required
  • Applies value analysis to repair / replace, repair / design, and make / buy decisions
  • Utilize RCM process for existing and new equipment

Qualifications / Skills

  • HNC / HND in Science / Engineering
  • Preferably a relevant Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Member of the IMechE
  • Experience of process engineering in a continuous manufacturing process environment; preferably a top tier COMAH Site
  • Demonstrated effective use of and adherence to legislative Process Safety systems and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of project management principles and tools.
  • Excellent problem solving skills including 6 Sigma, RCA, FEMA and RCM. Ability to read or produce engineering drawings, P&IDs and trip schedules.
  • A Computer literacy (MS Office / SAP).
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A self Starter with a “CAN DO” approach
  • Knowledge of project management principles and tools.
  • Knowledge of planning & scheduling.
  • Experience of break down, predictive and preventative maintenance strategies
  • Good people motivator and communicator who can achieve results through working with people in an informal culture
  • Act as a role model to others by demonstrating high standards of work practice and behaviour in line with the company’s’ code of business ethics and core values.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to technicians, supervisors and engineers.

Technical and Information Skills

  • Ability to lead or participate in multidiscipline teams.
  • Ability to produce management reports, capital investment proposals and maintenance instructions or training materials.
  • Ability to obtain and analyse a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Experience of HAZOP participation.
  • Ability to train and develop others in maintenance or operations departments
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of industrial rotating and fixed asset systems and equipment systems gained in a maintenance environment, ideally through experience in more than one organisation. This is a broad-based position that covers the full spectrum of MECHANICAL engineering.
  • Working knowledge of current legislation and statutory requirements including Management Regulations, LOLER and PUWER, COMAH or other safety case regulations, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, Hazardous Area Installations (ATEX / DSEAR),
  • Working knowledge of site standards and an understanding and ability to work with the codes on which the standards are based. ASME , PD 5500
  • Experience of NDT techniques, Condition monitoring techniques, pump selection, materials selection, applications of design considerations for bolted flange arrangements.
  • Six Sigma Green belt trained
  • Sound knowledge preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, preferably Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) facilitator trained
  • Formal RCA investigation training and experienced in facilitation
  • Working knowledge of PSSR and understanding of PED
  • Ability to work with API579
