Mechanical Project Manager

Mechanical Project Manager needed in the West Midlands close to Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Walsall, Dudley, West Bromwich, Telford and surrounding areas.


Full‑Time | Permanent


A well‑established and growing Building Services contractor is currently looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their operations team.


This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased Project Manager to take full responsibility for delivering building services projects across the UK, managing works from initial project handover through to final account and completion.


The role will suit someone with strong experience delivering mechanical installations within commercial, industrial, and building services environments, who is comfortable managing multiple aspects of project delivery including programme, labour, procurement, client management, and commercial performance.


Role Responsibilities

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will take full ownership of project delivery, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.



  • Managing mechanical building services projects from initial handover through to final completion
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Managing programme delivery, labour resources, procurement, and subcontractors
  • Leading project mobilisation meetings with estimating and design teams
  • Reviewing tender scope, labour allowances, material costs and subcontract packages
  • Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost savings
  • Producing project Scope of Works documentation
  • Managing project programmes and coordinating design development where required
  • Controlling labour allocation and resource planning to maintain programme delivery
  • Managing procurement of major mechanical plant, equipment and materials
  • Monitoring project costs and maintaining commercial control and profitability
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment, variations and final accounts
  • Managing project documentation, reporting and governance through project systems
  • Ensuring health & safety compliance, RAMS preparation and CDM requirements
  • Overseeing commissioning, testing, certification and project handover documentation
  • Ensuring O&M manuals and project closeout documentation are produced and issued
  • Attending regular project review meetings with senior leadership

Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience delivering mechanical building services projects and managing project teams in live construction environments.



  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within Building Services
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical installations including plantrooms, HVAC, pipework, and associated systems
  • Experience managing labour, subcontractors, procurement and programme delivery
  • Good commercial awareness including variations, cost control and project profitability
  • Experience managing RAMS, CDM compliance and site safety
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across the UK when required
  • Full UK driving licence
