About The Role

A Mechanical Project Manager will be a solution‑driven individual that can demonstrate a willingness to engage, drive and complete projects and where required understand and seek the necessary support to drive these projects to completion. These projects will be varied in size, scope, and complexity and this requires a flexible approach with a “can do” mindset.


Support Services has a healthy pipeline of projects via our multiple multi‑year national client frameworks such as DWP (Dept Work & Pensions), GPA (Government Property Agency), CCS (Crown Commercial Services), NatWest Critical Environment & CIP.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of multidisciplinary projects across HVAC, M&E and Fit‑Out/Building Fabric elements specific to our client base.
  • Deliver projects from RIBA Stage‑1 through to Stage‑7 in conjunction with the Regional Operations Manager.
  • Ensure the utilisation and efficiency of the project team on every project.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders, developing client‑specific proposals and managing project‑specific costs to meet budgets and programmes.
  • Agree measurable KPIs for each project and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Manage the pre‑construction phase, reviewing and managing the RIBA Design process, leading design coordination meetings and site surveys with consultants.
  • Scope projects and compile robust contractor proposals, managing the tender process for sub‑contract packages and ensuring compliance with design documentation.
  • Complete key pre‑construction documentation such as PEPs, Risk Registers, CPPs, and other required deliverables.
  • Manage and develop project teams, maximizing efficiencies, empowering staff with targets and goals.
  • Control supply chain partners, contracting mobilisation and operational support, ensuring all personnel possess the necessary skills and training opportunities.
  • Interface with internal business functions (commercial, H&S, procurement) and engage with engineering teams to develop solutions and proposals.
  • Deliver projects within timescales and budgets while ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Organise, chair, and record all relevant project meetings.
  • Continuously improve processes in line with client requirements.
  • Develop knowledge of various contracts, including NEC and others, and maintain programme financial control.
  • Maximise opportunities and improve margin returns, developing and reporting contract change mechanisms in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience carrying out project delivery of this nature.
  • Mechanical or Electrical experience is essential.
  • Experience in office refurbishment / fit‑out projects up to £10 million value.
  • Demonstrable position as Project Manager or a promising Project Engineer looking to advance in career.
  • Strong understanding of the RIBA Design process.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work on own initiative, recognising the need for assistance and resource planning.
  • Ability to develop, manage and empower a team.
  • Deadline driven and committed to the same.
  • Committed to personnel and team development and progression.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • PC literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office – Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint.
