Mechanical Project Engineer

Escape Recruitment’s client, a leading West Lothian engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their project team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated engineer with strong mechanical and project management experience to take ownership of key equipment initiatives and support safe, efficient site performance.

The Role

• Reporting to the Operations Director, you will:Deliver technical solutions to manufacturing challenges, including specifying, sourcing, and installing plant equipment.
• Design special-purpose machinery or modify existing systems.
• Manage engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring budget and timeline control.
• Prepare cost/efficiency assessments for new or replacement machinery.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal safety standards.
• Work closely with maintenance, production, and safety teams to resolve engineering issues.
• Visit supplier sites and company locations as required.
• Lead cost, quality, and safety improvement initiatives.

About You

You will ideally offer:

• An engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in heavy engineering or manufacturing with strong mechanical capability.
• CAD proficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of UK/international engineering standards and machinery safety regulations.
• Experience with facilities or project management (e.g., PRINCE2) is a bonus.
