Bam Nuttall is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to join us at the Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth, Devon. We are currently the preferred contractor to carry out the heavy civil engineering construction in and around the Royal Navy dockyard.

Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks will need to be made - BPSS level of security clearance is required. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process.

Your mission

As a Mechanical Package Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure all works are procured, planned, and carried out safely in accordance with project requirements and UK law.
  • Review designs with the design teams and client to ensure they are optimised for efficient and safe construction, fully compliant with standards and contract requirements.
  • Manage robust change control and manage risk and opportunity.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to the project management team for both site progress and financial reporting.
  • Manage the successful completion of the project/area under control in line with agreed quality and commercial plans to achieve targets within agreed timescales and cost constraints. Ensure the design and installation meets internal and client specifications and statutory requirements as a minimum.
  • Provide leadership for the project team members within your area of control, setting clear expectations, offering guidance and feedback to maximise the performance of the team and ensure objectives are met, managing performance accordingly.
  • Contribute to the identification of projects risks and opportunities, supporting project team members, providing suggestions, taking responsibility for the mitigation or enhancement of those within your area of control.
  • Understand relevant budgets, commercial priorities and their implications, in relation to job role. Ability to make sound decisions, based on clear criteria and facts. Manage own workload in line with project goals and priorities.
  • Keep accurate records.
  • Ensure necessary Appointments are made by the authorising Engineer for all the Mechanical works.

Who are we looking for?

  • Academic Qualifications - related Qualification (HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng).
  • SMSTS.
  • Experience of similar role, preferred in relevant sector (i.e., Nuclear and Defence).
  • CSCS - White PQP/AQP.
