Role: Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Birmingham
£Competitive + Company Bonus & Benefits
Hours: Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm (38.75 hours)

Our client, a leading international manufacturer, is currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their Birmingham site during a period of significant growth.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will be part of a multi-skilled maintenance team that operates flexibly and professionally. Your responsibilities will include assisting with both breakdown and preventative maintenance across the site safely and efficiently.

Key duties include:

  1. Adhering to all safety rules and requirements at all times.
  2. Performing routine daily preventative maintenance checks.
  3. Collaborating with Production Team Leaders, Shift Technicians, and Operators, and reporting findings to your Departmental Team Leader.
  4. Taking responsibility for understanding the operation and maintenance requirements of specific areas, including safe systems of work.
  5. Ensuring all tasks are supported by relevant documentation such as work orders and risk assessments.
  6. Carrying out both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks promptly.
  7. Acting as a primary communication point during maintenance activities.
  8. Participating in projects aimed at improving, extending, or modifying equipment to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety.

What we are looking for:

  1. Recognized apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline to ONC engineering or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  3. Awareness of lean manufacturing tools.
  4. Experience with continuous improvement techniques.
  5. Mechanical experience in process manufacturing or heavy machinery.
  6. Attention to detail with problem analysis and solution implementation skills.
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  8. Ability to self-organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  9. Experience working with high-speed processes.
