An exciting opportunity has arisen within NTW Solutions Ltd, in the role of a Mechanical Craftsperson to join our Estates Team at Ferndene Hospital. The suitably qualified and experienced candidate will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team based within the Estates Department.

This vacancy includes Potential Additional Earnings from On-Call and Overtime and an attractive £2.5K welcome bonus- a Rewarding Welcome for a Rewarding Career.

Main duties of the job

To undertake without routine supervision; planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and new installation work within healthcare premises on a variety of building services related systems, including:

Energy generating plant including boiler plant.

DHWS & CWS systems

Air compressors

Laundry and catering equipment

Drainage/sewerage

Ventilation plant

Air conditioning and refrigeration

BMS control systems

Electrical building services

Fault finding and repair of plant and equipment

Undertake Condition Surveys of Mechanical Systems and Mechanical Infrastructure within Healthcare Facilities

Person SpecificationKnowledge and Skills
  • Completion of a recognised mechanically bias engineering apprenticeship.
  • Good knowledge of building maintenance and safety rules
  • Able to read and work from technical drawings
  • Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
  • Able to work on your own and manage your time well
  • Flexible and willing to work out of hours when needed
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the job
Experience
  • Broad experience of maintenance work across different systems
  • Practical experience in at least four of these areas: heating and boiler plant, ventilation, water systems, compressors, laundry and catering equipment, sewage and drainage
  • Experience of working across different trades, including some electrical work
Qualifications
  • 5 GCSE's or equivalent
  • City & Guilds in a mechanical related subject
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant trade
  • HNC or similar in Building Services Engineering
