A family run company, Magnetic Shields Limited (MSL) is the industry leader in the design and manufacture of magnetically shielded products and rooms. This period of expansion is a very exciting time for the company and we are looking to speak to applicants interested in joining our team as a Senior Quality Inspector*.*
This is a hands-on role that would suit someone with a background in quality control wishing to progress their quality career in process improvement within a manufacturing environment. Within this role you will be responsible for ensuring all aspects of day-to-day inspection duties are met, along with defining and implementation of continual improvement targets.
The Senior Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all manufactured components and assemblies meet MSL’s quality, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, supporting continuous improvement, and providing technical expertise in inspection methods, including advanced measurement using CMM equipment. The successful candidate will act as a senior point of reference within the inspection function, supporting junior inspectors, liaising with Engineering and Production, and contributing to the ongoing development of quality systems and processes.

  • Carry out detailed inspection to customer specifications and drawings of precision sheet metal components and assemblies using a range of measurement equipment, including CMMs, height gauges, micrometers, verniers, and optical measurement systems.
  • Program, operate, and interpret results from Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to verify dimensional compliance.
  • Perform first article inspection (FAI)
  • Quality Systems & Compliance*
  • Ensure inspection activities comply with ISO 9001 requirements and MSL quality procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing inspection records, evidence, and technical input.
  • Identify non-conformances, raise NCRs, and support root cause analysis and corrective actions with quality engineers
  • Maintain accurate and traceable quality records and inspection reports.
    *Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Quality Inspectors and production staff where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing defects, improving inspection efficiency, and strengthening quality controls.
    *Experience of fine limit sheet metal inspection
  • Proven experience in a senior or lead quality inspection role within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CMM operation and programming.
  • In-depth understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Experience in regulated or high-reliability industries (e.g. aerospace, defence, medical, or similar).
  • Experience supporting internal or external quality audits.
  • Familiarity with additional quality standards or customer-specific requirements.
