Morson Talent are hiring multiple Mechanical Fitters for our Aerospace and Defence client based in Cambridge. The role plays a pivotal part in high-profile military projects, dealing with the production of both vehicles and containers.Rate: £27.09 per hour UMBRELLA or £19.69 per hour PAYE (PAYE rate has £3.06 worth of holiday pay paid on top of every hour so £22.75 per hour in total) role is INSIDE IR35Duration: ongoing, initially for 6-12 months (strong potential for extension and permanent prospects)Hours: Monday – Thursday (7.15am-3.45pm) half day finish on Friday's (7.15am-12.15pm)Duties include: To manufacture, assemble and build specialist projects using engineering drawings and associated design data to meet the business and customer expectationsTo support the Production Managers and Team Leaders, ensuring that all Marshall Land Systems projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standardCandidates from the below backgrounds/disciplines would be suitable: Coach buildersKitchen fittersSheet metal workers / fabricatorsJoinersShop fittersSpecialist vehicle builders who have worked on installations of commercial vehicle installation Ensure all tasks are carried out within the allocated timeTo understand and work to configuration control processesTo ensure production processes and procedures are maintainedTo follow and work in line with Health and Safety management systemsTake an active role in continuous improvements, to include lean and 5s proceduresEnsure a clean compliant work area is maintained at all timesEnsure equipment and tooling required is identified to the line managerAttend and support production meetings if requiredCompletion of daily timesheets Qualifications and Experience Essential: Mechanical, fitting or joining experiencePrevious experience within automotive or heavy industry highly desirableAny prior experience in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent trade highly beneficialUnderstanding and experience in Assembly processes and techniquesCompetent skills gained through training and experience and ability to communicate within teamFamiliar with a workshop environmentUnderstanding of Production methods and processesCompetent understanding and ability to read engineering drawings and associated design dataUnderstand planning methods and skillsGood written and verbal communication skills Desirable: Ideally completed a City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, Manufacturing and Assembly Qualification or comprehensive on the job experienceUnderstanding of Appraisals/PDR'sSemi-Skilled candidates with manufacturing/production experience will be consideredTPBN1_UKTJ
