Mechanical Fitter / Plumber

We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Mechanical Fitter / Plumber to join our facilities maintenance team in Tameside. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with a strong background in mechanical systems and plumbing, ensuring high-quality service delivery across a diverse commercial and public-sector portfolio.


Role Overview

  • Pay Rate: £25.00 per hour.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week.
  • Working Pattern: Monday - Friday.
  • Location: Tameside.
  • Contract Type: Temporary / Ongoing.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance: Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs to mechanical plant and plumbing systems.
  • Mechanical Fitting: Inspect, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, and associated pipework to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Plumbing Works: Undertake minor installations and repairs to building fabric, including sanitary ware and water distribution systems.
  • Fault Finding: Utilize technical expertise to identify and resolve mechanical and plumbing faults within occupied facilities.
  • Compliance: Sign off completed tasks via digital systems, ensuring all maintenance records and site logs are accurate and compliant.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure a safe working environment by strictly adhering to site policies, RAMS, and Permit to Work procedures.

Requirements

  • Essential Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent City & Guilds) in Mechanical Engineering or Plumbing & Heating.
  • Experience & Skills:

    • Facilities Management (Bonus): Previous experience working within a structured Facilities Management (FM) environment is highly desirable.
    • Technical Proficiency: Ability to work independently or as part of a multi-trade team to resolve complex site issues.
    • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and coordinate with external subcontractors.
