Mechanical Fitter

Maintain and repair production machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, combining preventative maintenance with responsive breakdown support. You'll work across the full site, helping keep equipment running safely and reliably on a rotating 12‑hour shift pattern.

Role details

Based near Kilmarnock on a permanent basis, working 4‑on 4‑off continental 12‑hour shifts (days and nights).

The role

As a Mechanical Fitter you'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance on machinery across the site to support safe and reliable production. The role exists to provide consistent maintenance cover across a 24/7 operation and reduce downtime. You\'ll use your experience from FMCG or heavy engineering to work efficiently and communicate clearly with colleagues across shifts.

What you\'ll be doing
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance on a range of production machinery and equipment
  • Responding to mechanical breakdowns to diagnose faults and complete repairs
  • Performing general site maintenance on mechanical plant and associated systems
  • Supporting safe start-up and shutdown of equipment as required
  • Completing maintenance records and updating relevant documentation
  • Working collaboratively with other shift engineers and production teams to minimise downtime
What we\'re looking for
  • Proven experience as a mechanical fitter in FMCG and/or heavy engineering environments
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills on production machinery
  • Experience of planned preventative maintenance routines
  • Good communication skills, able to work effectively with operators and other engineers
  • Well organised approach, able to manage tasks across a 4‑on 4‑off shift pattern
