Job Title:Mechanical Fitter

Salary:£13.50 £16.80 per hour (dependent on experience) + Overtime + Bonuses

Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter looking to join a well-established engineering manufacturer with excellent earning potential and long-term career progression?

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected engineering and manufacturing business based in Stroud. This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced and supportive team, producing high-quality engineered products to exacting standards.

The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for producing and assembling company products in line with technical drawings and written specifications. This is a hands-on role requiring precision, technical understanding, and a strong commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out sub-assembly production fitting and final assembly operations

  • Assembling mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic components

  • Producing and building fabricated assemblies of varying size and complexity, including:

    • Marking out and cutting materials

    • Folding and pipe bending

    • Weld joint preparation

    • Hydraulic and pneumatic system installation

    • General production build assemblies

  • Inspecting completed assemblies to ensure alignment, dimensions, and quality standards are met

  • Adhering to all Health & Safety policies and procedures

  • Maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30am 4:30pm

  • Friday: 7:30am 2:00pm (Early Finish)

  • 40 hours per week

  • Overtime available

What Were Looking For

Essential:

  • Strong engineering background with relevant industry experience

  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing, GA, and sub-assembly drawings

  • Confident using hand and power tools

  • Working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)

Desirable:

  • Experience in vehicle fabrication/fitting

  • Background in aviation, military, marine or similar industries

  • Basic electrical assembly experience and ability to read circuit drawings

Salary & Benefits

  • £13.50 £16.80 per hour (DOE)
