About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Mechanical Fitter to take ownership of plant maintenance, equipment reliability, and contractor coordination across our busy site. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll ensure all mechanical systems are operating at their best – safely, efficiently, and in line with manufacturer recommendations.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance of plant and equipment.
  • Act as first point of contact for on-site repairs and external service providers.
  • Liaise with contractors, engineers, and cleaners – ensuring high standards of safety and quality.
  • Support the planning and installation of new machinery.
  • Recommend improvements to boost efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Uphold safety procedures, managing risk and reporting incidents as necessary.
  • Keep the maintenance workshop and stores organised and well-maintained.
  • Attend relevant training and meetings to keep your knowledge up to date.

What We’re Looking For

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in welding operations.
  • Forklift Truck Licence is prefered however training can be provided.
  • Supervisory experience, with the ability to lead contract labour on site.
  • Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Solid IT skills – confident with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
  • Able to work 07:30 - 15:30hrs, Monday to Friday.
