Job Title:Mechanical Fitter - Space
Location:Thales UK, Alan Brooke Road, Belfast, BT6 9HB
Role Type:Onsite, Full-Time - 4 day week - Monday - Thursday

Primary Purpose of the Role:

Provide a flexible, adaptable, efficient and effective service to our internal/external customers, at all times. To work as an mechanical, manufacturing mechanical assemblies, to the quality standards demanded within missiles, aerospace or space, assembly environment.

You will be working with:

  • Electrical & Mechanical Technician

  • Methods Engineering

  • Team Leaders

  • Cell Manager

  • Quality Assurance

  • Customer Quality Assurance.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Mechanical Assembly

  • Welding Activities

  • Adhesive application

  • Lifting Equipment

  • Calibration


About you:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of general mechanical assembly practices of adhesive application, fitting and jigs and fixtures.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of pressure test and welding.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of 5S and Health and Safety practices.

  • Experience of working within a Space manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to complete work to specification within the specified manufacturing data pack.

  • Integrating and working in harmony with the established team so as to achieve targets.

  • Become familiar with and adopting the principles of the 5’s housekeeping standard.

  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement activities that are ongoing within the work place with the goal of eliminating waste and reduce operating costs.

  • Training

  • Qualified operator inspection.

We would love to see experience with:

  • Manual dexterity.

  • Quick learner.

  • Working within a team.

  • Ability to work under pressure (to tight deadlines)

  • Must be capable of working to Manufacturing Instruction and Engineering drawings

  • Knowledge of and ability to work to the quality standards required within the space industry

  • At least 3 years in a Production environment or similar gained within the space industry.

  • Experienced in the assembly of high precision mechanical components

  • Experience with Welding or similar environments

Nice to have:

  • City & Guilds or equivalent.

  • Can Do attitude

  • Lean 5s experience
