Mechanical Estimator / Senior Mechanical Estimator | Building Services | Southampton area | £60,000 £75,000 + Car/Allowance + Bonus

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a respected M&E Building Services contractor delivering projects from £100k to £5m.

About the Company

The company is a well-established M&E Building Services contractor delivering mechanical and electrical installations across the commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, leisure, and public sector environments. Known for their technical capability and consistent project delivery, the business has built strong long-term relationships with clients across the South Coast and surrounding regions.

The Role

As Mechanical Estimator, you will take responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive mechanical building services tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover.

You will price HVAC systems, plantrooms, heating systems, chilled water systems, ventilation, pipework, and public health services across a varied portfolio of building services projects, working closely with Directors and Project Managers to ensure tenders are commercially robust and technically sound.

Projects typically range from £100k through to larger multi-million-pound installations across the commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and fit-out sectors.

This role would suit candidates currently working as: Mechanical Estimator, Senior Mechanical Estimator, Mechanical Building Services Estimator, M&E Estimator, or Mechanical Pre-Construction Estimator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing detailed mechanical building services tenders from drawings and specifications
  • Producing accurate take-offs and cost plans
  • Pricing HVAC systems, plantrooms, heating, ventilation, chilled water, pipework, and public health installations
  • Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Reviewing technical documentation and identifying value engineering opportunities
  • Undertaking risk analysis and commercial review of tender submissions
  • Supporting tender presentations and internal commercial reviews
  • Working closely with project delivery teams to ensure smooth handover following tender success

About You

  • Proven experience operating as a Mechanical Estimator within an M&E Building Services contractor environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, pipework, plantrooms, heating, and ventilation systems
  • Experience pricing building services projects across sectors such as commercial, healthcare, industrial, or education
  • Strong understanding of pre-construction, tendering processes, and commercial project delivery
  • Experience using estimating software such as Ensign or similar platforms would be advantageous
  • Commercially astute with strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate tender submissions

Remuneration Package Mechanical Estimator

  • £60,000 £75,000
