We’re looking for an experienced and detail-driven Mechanical Estimator to join our Estimating Team within the Specialist Services division. This role will support a range of exciting and complex projects across multiple business units including Nuclear, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I), Cleanrooms, and Infrastructure.

As part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you’ll be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost proposals for industrial and commercial projects. You’ll work closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure our submissions are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with project goals.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in construction estimating within an industrial or commercial environment. (essential)
  • Strong commercial acumen and a high level of accuracy in cost planning and proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality estimating submissions that align with client and project requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience using estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Causeway, or similar - Desirable)
  • Ability to develop and manage project programmes using Microsoft Project
  • Understanding of NEC3 Option C contracts and associated commercial principles. (desirable)
  • Eligibility to pass CTC / SC clearances

What you’ll be doing

  • Proven experience in preparing mechanical estimates and tender submissions for industrial or commercial building services projects.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and client requirements to develop accurate scopes and cost plans.
  • Skilled in carrying out quantity take-offs for mechanical systems, including HVAC, pipework, plant, and associated equipment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify and mitigate risk within estimates.
  • Proficient in the use of estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Experience sourcing and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations against technical specifications.
  • Confident in attending client meetings and engaging with stakeholders to clarify scope and technical details.
  • Capable of preparing tender documentation, including cost breakdowns, summaries, and supporting schedules.
  • Familiarity with project planning and the development of outline programmes.
  • Willingness to travel for site visits across the UK as required.
