4 on 4 off (2 days, followed by 2 nights)


Key Experience and Qualifications

  • Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ3 or equivalent mechanical / industrial qualification
  • ONC or equivalent
  • Experience in a multi-disciplined industrial engineering function
  • Experience of working within an FMCG environment
  • HNC or equivalent
  • Experience working with Siemens or Allen‑Bradley PLC’s

Primary purpose and function of position

Reporting to the First Line Manager in the Department, the role of a Mechanical Technician is a multi-skilled position. The main purpose of this position is to carry out planned and reactive maintenance in support of a high speed packaging line, production or utilities areas. The role is vital for the efficiency, quality and cost of the plant. A Mechanical Technician will look to improve the reliability and safety of the plant and production processes. This job description and the job title Mechanical Technician is not necessarily descriptive of all duties and does not restrict flexibility. You may be required, from time to time, to carry out tasks in addition to or instead of your normal duties, either for the brewery or for AB InBev, provided that they are reasonable and within your capabilities.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Working for the Utilities department you will work in a team consisting of multi-skilled Technicians. You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance support across utilities equipment such as water treatment, pumping systems, boilers, NH3 and CO2 equipment.


Accountabilities (Duties include)

  • Undertake, drive and support maintenance and improvement activities
  • Identify CI opportunities
  • Developing SOPs and learning documents to share best practice across shifts with respect to maintenance and CIL
  • Developing safety, and maintenance procedures
  • Liaise with suppliers of OEM’s for the provision of spares/services
  • Support the development and maintenance of a high performance, flexible and “can do” culture
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance
  • Machinery fault diagnosis and repairs
  • Use of Plant Optimisation tools to ensure sustainability of high departmental standards, Hygiene and PDCA
  • Review and develop safety and maintenance procedures (SWI)
  • Record all maintenance activities within maintenance management system (SAP)
  • Maintenance prioritisation and planning
  • Analyse machines to improve performance
  • Identify critical spares for designated machines
  • Refurbish spares as required
  • Complete some work at heights, confined space & as a lone worker
  • Project work
  • Carrying out quality inspections on jobs
  • Liaising & assisting client departments and customers
  • Controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment
  • Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs
  • Writing, reviewing & updating maintenance SOP’s, OPL’s & job tasks.
  • Working in a safe manner following all company policies and procedures
  • Ensure all safety systems are in working order

  • Proactive & self-managed engineer who are professional and have a can do attitude
  • Good communication skills and above all take pride in the work they are completing
  • On occasions you will be expected to work with external contractors
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvements, HACCP and Food Safety protocols.
  • Undertake activities to support VPO compliance and sustainability
  • Comply with health, safety and hygiene policies and practices at all times and ensure standards are maintained
