To ensure a viable, efficient, and reliable energy future for all## Job DescriptionMechanical Engineer – Heat Exchanger Design & ManufactureEssential that candidate can perform site surveys as required to suit project requirementsContract Duration: 12 months.Location: Whitehaven / Hybrid 3 days minimum office workingStart Date: ASAPOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Engineer with a strong background in design and manufacture with pressure vessel design codes. The successful candidate will support design close out and manufacturing documentation for high-integrity shell and tube heat exchangers and/or pressure vessels within the nuclear sector.Key Responsibilities* Support the close-out of design and manufacturing documentation from concept through to manufacture and delivery.* Design by Analysis (DBA) assessments in compliance with relevant industry codes.* Prepare, review, and interpret detailed manufacturing drawings, specifications, and documentation.* Liaise with multidisciplinary teams including design, manufacturing, and quality engineering.* Contribute to technical documentation, including design calculations, specifications, and drawings.Essential Skills & Experience* Proven experience in the design and manufacture of shell and tube heat exchangers / pressure vessels.* Knowledge of FEA.* Experience with design by analysis methods and code assessments.* Working knowledge of pressure vessel codes with ability to interpret and apply design code requirements.* Ability to read, produce, and check manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.* Strong appreciation of general manufacturing processes, including materials, fabrication, and inspection methods.Desirable Skills & Experience* Experience with one of the following RCC-M / ASME III / ASME VIII / BS EN 13445.* Knowledge of quality assurance and regulatory requirements for high-integrity equipment.* Experience with AutoCAD.Qualifications* Degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.* Chartered Engineer status (CEng) desirable but not essential.Personal Attributes* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.* Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality outputs.* Effective communicator with ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.* Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage workload to meet deadlines.****Security clearance****This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.We are committed to equal treatment of candidates and promote, as well as foster all forms of diversity within our company.
