Plumbing/HVAC Engineer

Location: Campsfield Immigration Removal Centre

Contract Type: Full-Time

Standby Rota 1 week in 4: £175 when on call

40-hour week


We're looking for a motivated and experienced Mechanical Engineer to undertake facilities management services across our site. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape service excellence, drive operational performance, and make a real difference every day.

What You'll Be Doing

We are seeking a dedicated professional to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance. The successful candidate will ensure that standards are maintained and will liaise with other Mitie engineers and subcontractors. A proactive approach to client liaison is essential, ensuring that concerns are addressed or relayed to management as necessary.

The role requires compliance with and enforcement of existing business risk management procedures for maintenance and project works. You will need to understand and complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a Plumbing/HVAC Engineer with:

Substantial practical experience with a comprehensive knowledge of all building services disciplines, including heating, hot water, ventilating, refrigeration, environmental.

The candidate should be a team worker with flexibility within the contracted hours, a strong team player with a ‘can do' attitude and possess an intuitive and proactive nature. If you are a detail-oriented professional with a commitment to maintaining high standards, we encourage you to apply.

Ensure all documentation is completed correctly for all tasks and reactive tasks are reported and recorded on to the CAFM system

Participation in standby rota for emergency calls, outside normal working hours

Key Skills & Behaviours

  • Customer-focused with a “can-do” attitude and eye for detail.
  • Able to prioritise under pressure and solve problems pragmatically.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • IOSH or equivalent
  • C&G/BTEC Mechanical Building Services Engineering Parts 1, 2, and 3, or NVQ Level 3
  • C&G 2079 F Gas or equivalent, HVAC or gas equivalent
  • Good IT skills with the ability to produce reports from multiple sources/systems.
