We are seeking to employ an proactive and enthusiastic Associate or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding team in London .

As an experienced professional who ideally holds professional accreditation or is actively pursuing it, you will bring an extensive portfolio demonstrating your expertise and capabilities.

You will deliver your design services within a diverse and challenging range of design projects. Your project range Will vary, demonstrating experience across a range of different scales, complexity, sectors, and geographies.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
With a proven track record working within the industry with Discipline leads on a variety of large and complex projects, your responsibilities will align with the following.
Working alongside the Associate Director, managing extensive individual projects whilst supporting project coordination.
Strongly support the day-to-day running of projects, ensuring they are delivered to the highest technical standards.
Act as a key client interface at the project level when the Project Director cannot attend. Understand the clients requirements and align them with the project goals. Encourage clients to call them when they need advice. Tackles client problems to encourage long-term partnerships.
Assist in marketing activities, including developing a deep network of contacts within the industry and with clients.
Attends evening functions and receptions regularly to reinforce our sales and marketing activities.
Assist in the development of fee proposals and presentations.
Support your team with quality control on projects and ensure that the company quality assurance and compliance standards are upheld and adhered to in accordance with the Business Management Procedures.
Complete project references/Presentations to be used for marketing purposes.
Take the initiative to propose ideas to improve marketing.
Assist in the development of fee proposals and presentations.
Manages the quality control on projects and ensures that the company quality and compliance standards are upheld in line with the Business Management Procedures are adhered to.
Work with the Project Director to evaluate challenges from a project, identify and develop solutions for new projects to mitigate risks and develop opportunities in the future.
Be present, making yourself visible and available amongst the project team.
Conduct performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and identify skill gaps and opportunities for learning & development as a line manager.
Encourage a growth culture and provide support for early career staff Learning and development.
Closely monitors the design work carried out by other team members.
Provide technical training to staff.
If applicable, liaise with the BIM team continually to ensure they know drawing requirements.
Assists the Project Manager in ensuring all additional work undertaken is appropriately identified and additional fees are claimed where appropriate.

Background & Qualifications: MSc or BSc in Environmental or Engineering discipline, with Chartered Engineer status or a strong ambition to achieve chartership through CIBSE or IMechE.
Have mechanical engineering experience at a senior level, particularly in commercial projects, including new builds, refurbishments, and fit-outs.
Experienced in laboratory, light industrial, and/or hotel developments.
Understanding of sustainable building design, renewable energy and low-carbon technology.
In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
Expertise in Building Services Engineering Systems, including their performance, application, and operation, gained in a design office setting.
Strong analytical skills to influence the drive for continuous improvement.
Proactive, adaptable, and approachable engineer with strong client-facing and communication skills at all levels, demonstrating initiative.
Experience with design and build projects is advantageous.

Skills: Showcase strong technical expertise through client presentations, building trust and fostering relationships internally and externally.
Review calculations, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with client briefs and project requirements.
Support the Project Director in managing project finances and ensuring alignment with best management practices.
Apply technical skills to deliver complex projects while providing expert guidance to drive innovation, creativity, and a design-led approach.
Communicate effectively with senior clients and stakeholders, evaluating project variations and proposing scope, program, and fee adjustments.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, knowledge sharing, creativity, and problem-solving.
Demonstrate leadership, strong organisational skills, and attention to detail to meet project milestones and drive successful outcomes.
