Design Engineer - Wallingford

Responsibilities

  • Designing engineering assemblies that integrate mechanical and electrical installations with GRP and other moulded materials.
  • Assisting with new development projects as directed by management.
  • Providing technical support to the production and sales departments.
  • Communicating on technical matters with component suppliers.
  • Producing, maintaining, and managing technical assembly and manufacturing drawings.
  • Assisting in product on-water testing and prototype development, from concept to pre-production stage.
  • Producing and controlling Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Qualifications and Experience

  • A formal education, preferably at the degree level, accompanied by at least five years of experience in a Design Engineer role.
  • Advanced skills in a 3D CAD environment (NX is preferred), with a solid understanding of component and assembly models, as well as the creation and issuance of technical drawings.
  • A proven ability to solve engineering challenges with innovative solutions. Experience with mechanical systems, including drivetrains, and familiarity with fabricated components made of steel, aluminium, and plastics.
  • An understanding of moulded components and associated tooling is essential, with the ability to produce laminate schedules considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with fluid circuits and/or electrical systems is also advantageous.
