The Mechanical Engineer will manage engineering design drawing revision control and work closely with customers to update drawings, review P&ID, block diagrams, and schematics, ensuring all technical files are accurately uploaded to the database. The role includes overseeing the engineering change control process and maintaining up-to-date documentation of all process modifications, changes, and improvements within the BOM structure and routing system to ensure full traceability. The engineer will also develop and implement structured methodologies for New Product Introduction (NPI) to support a seamless transition from design to full-scale production and actively participate in DFMA workshops to support value engineering (VA/VE) and the standardization of products.


Job Accountability

Design Deliverables:

  • Production of schematics and valve schedules for build.
  • Check and submit client submittals and manufacturing drawings, ensuring BOM accuracy.
  • Prepare accurate specifications, reports, and other project documentation, ensuring alignment with budget, timeframe, and quality objectives.
  • Manage engineering design drawing revision control, ensuring all updates are accurately maintained.
  • Develop and implement structured methodologies for New Product Introduction (NPI) to support smooth transitions from design to full-scale production.
  • Liaise directly with customers and internal stakeholders to update drawings, block diagrams, and schematics, and upload technical files to the database.
  • Work closely with structural engineering organisations to receive pipe stress analyses and ensure any resulting design changes are captured mathematically and reflected accurately in project documentation.
  • Maintain full traceability by ensuring all process modifications, changes, and improvements are properly documented within the BOM structure and routing system.
  • Manage engineering design drawing revision control, ensuring all updates are accurately maintained.
  • Work closely with customers to update drawings, block diagrams, and schematics, and upload technical files to the database.
  • Oversee the engineering change control process, ensuring timely and accurate implementation of design changes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all process modifications, changes, and improvements within the BOM structure and routing system, ensuring full traceability.
  • Develop and implement structured methodologies for New Product Introduction (NPI) to enable a seamless transition from design to full-scale production.
  • Participate in DFMA workshops to support value engineering (VA/VE) and standardization of products.


Production & Process Support:

  • Provide proactive technical support to production teams to ensure seamless execution of build plans, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Collaborate with production personnel to troubleshoot issues and develop robust, timely solutions.

  • Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process to address defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, embedding best practices within production processes to uphold workplace safety and operational integrity.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of all process modifications, changes, and improvements within BOM structure and routing system, maintaining full traceability.


What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should bring:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or an equivalent qualification and relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience: Substantial experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or a similar role ideally within process plant, HVAC, capital equipment, large infrastructure projects involving multi-disciplinary electro-mechanical facets.
  • Working experience with PLM, PDM or ERP system. Understanding of BOM generation would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of structured problem-solving techniques such as 8D problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in managing BOM structures and routing systems


Skills:

  • In-depth expertise in manufacturing processes and materials, encompassing fabrication, welding, structural steel, building construction, and associated trade disciplines, with proven experience in modular build environments and compliance with standards such as EN BS 1090.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other engineering tools
  • Extensive experience with lean manufacturing and continuous process improvement methodologies in a low-volume, high-value manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in defining manufacturing and quality-related standards, originating visual standards, SOPs, and work instructions, and delivering training to skilled personnel.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
