Role Overview

An excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy based in Birmingham. The company delivers mechanical and electrical design solutions across a range of sectors including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and public buildings.

You will be responsible for delivering technically sound and efficient mechanical design work, supporting projects from early concept stages through to detailed design and handover. Key Responsibilities
  • Design and specify mechanical building services systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and domestic services.
  • Produce detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Carry out heat loss, cooling load, and ventilation calculations to support design proposals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure project coordination and integration of systems.
  • Attend design and site meetings to support project delivery and technical discussions.
  • Ensure designs meet current building regulations, standards, and sustainability objectives.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience working within a building services design consultancy or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) and an understanding of mechanical calculation tools.
  • Good knowledge of HVAC systems, design principles, and building services standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Keen attention to detail and a desire to develop within a technical design environment.
