Based at our headquarters in Macclesfield, Cheshire, we have a small multi-disciplined, dynamic team designing and manufacturing high-value robotic machines for testing PCBs (printed circuit boards).

We are now recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer who is keen to develop their mechanical design skills whilst making a valuable contribution to RoBAT's product development, all within a varied and challenging environment!


In addition to this, as our Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting Head of Mechanical Design and Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in machine design and development.
  • Involvement in every aspect of mechanical design from concept to manufacture.
  • Ensuring that our design work is accurate, complete, timely and thorough with an aptitude to create novel solutions.

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

  • A passion for Mechanical Design.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable ability to problem solve and think creatively.
  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related subject.
  • Experience with 3D parametric modelling package (preferably Autodesk Inventor)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

It Would Be Great If You Had

  • Practical experience of working with hand tools etc.
  • Exposure to robotics and/or automation
  • Knowledge of CAD data management and revision control. (Vault preferred)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access, Excel, 2D CAD packages
  • Any practical experience with CAM, metal working machines, milling, turning etc.

Occasional world-wide travel may be necessary (almost all our customers are outside the UK/Europe).
