Mechanical Design Engineer – Nuclear & Engineered Systems

Clearance: UK Nationals Only (due to site access requirements)

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer who loves solving complex engineering problems, working on safety‑critical systems, and seeing your designs come to life in real‑world applications? This is your chance to join a high‑performing engineering team working on cutting‑edge nuclear plant equipment and engineered solutions that genuinely make an impact.

We’re growing, we’re investing, and we’re looking for an engineer who wants to be part of something meaningful.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll play a key role in delivering robust, compliant mechanical designs across a range of nuclear and industrial projects. Expect variety, challenge, and the chance to work across the full engineering lifecycle.

You will:

  • Create high‑quality 3D models (Inventor/SolidWorks) and 2D manufacturing drawings (AutoCAD)
  • Produce and verify design calculations
  • Develop solutions from client specifications, national standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate closely with Projects, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain
  • Support design reviews, approvals, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to project delivery, ensuring designs meet cost, quality, and safety targets
  • Build deep product knowledge across the full lifecycle

This is a role where your engineering judgement matters — and where your ideas will be heard.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who combines technical capability with curiosity, ownership, and a drive for excellence.

You’ll need:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Strong 3D/2D CAD skills (Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles
  • Experience with pressure systems, pumps, pipework, or packaged systems (advantageous)
  • Logical, analytical problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team
  • A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning
  • UK nationality (due to secure site access requirements)

Why Join Us?

This isn’t just another design role. You’ll be part of a team that:

  • Works on high‑integrity, safety‑critical systems with real‑world impact
  • Offers genuine technical variety — no two projects are the same
  • Encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and professional development
  • Values collaboration, authenticity, and high engineering standards
  • Provides opportunities to visit customer sites and see your designs in action

If you want to grow your expertise in nuclear, engineered systems, or pressure‑related design this is the place to do it.

Ready to Apply?

If you’re a Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to work on meaningful, technically challenging projects in a supportive and forward‑thinking environment, we’d love to hear from you.

New Edge Computing Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Shaping Edge Innovation

Edge computing is transforming how data is processed by bringing compute power closer to the source of generation. With the proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT), real‑time analytics, autonomous systems, and latency‑sensitive applications, edge computing has moved from a niche discipline to a core component of digital infrastructure. In 2026, organisations that specialise in or heavily invest in edge computing are expanding their teams to build distributed systems, real‑time analytics platforms, and edge‑optimised AI. For professionals exploring opportunities on www.EdgeComputingJobs.co.uk , understanding which employers are growing, winning contracts, or securing investment is essential. This article highlights the new and high‑growth edge computing employers to watch in 2026, including UK startups, international innovators with a UK presence, and established companies shifting strategy toward edge.

How Many Edge Computing Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an Edge Computing Job?

If you’re trying to start or grow a career in edge computing, it can feel like you’re navigating a maze of tools, frameworks and platforms — Kubernetes, Docker, IoT frameworks, AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, OpenShift, TinyML toolkits, networking orchestration, real-time streaming frameworks, and on it goes. Scroll job boards and community forums and it’s easy to conclude that unless you master every buzzword imaginable, you’ll never get a job. Here’s the honest truth most edge computing hiring managers won’t necessarily say out loud: 👉 They don’t hire you because you know every edge computing tool — they hire you because you can solve real system problems using the tools you know. Tools matter, yes — but only when they support clear outcomes: reliable systems, performance at scale, secure edge deployments and real business value. So how many edge computing tools do you actually need to know to secure a job? For most edge computing roles, the answer is fewer than you think — and a lot clearer when sorted by fundamentals and roles. This guide shows you what matters, what doesn’t, and how to focus your time wisely so you come across as capable, confident and employable.

What Hiring Managers Look for First in Edge Computing Job Applications (UK Guide)

In today’s fast-evolving tech landscape, edge computing is one of the most sought-after fields — blending distributed systems, embedded systems, networking, cloud, IoT, data and real-time processing. But that also means hiring managers are highly selective. They scan applications fast and look for signals of relevance, impact, technical depth and real-world delivery long before they read every line. This guide demystifies what hiring managers in edge computing look for first in your application — so you can tailor your CV, portfolio and cover letter to jump out of the stack. Whether you’re targeting edge systems roles, embedded IoT edge jobs, edge-native data roles, edge platform engineering or edge-AI positions, this checklist will help you position your experience in a way hiring managers can trust immediately.
