A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Authority to join a department to assist with the development of professional mobile digital radio products and accessories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical contact during scoping, definition, design and production phases of new product development
  • Provide technical guidance for possible solution types to meet requirements
  • Assess compliance of product performance against requirements
  • Review mechanical engineering outputs for approval, including drawing review and approval
  • Mentor and support mechanical design engineers
  • Provide technical solutions designed for manufacture
  • Manage 3rd party injection moulding suppliers
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Prior experience working with electronics
  • Experience in electrical cable designs
  • Experience of mechanical design for acoustic system performance
  • Experience of mechanical design for RF system integration

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Solid foundation of experience in mechanical product designs that include integrated electronics operating in demanding environmental conditions
  • Broad mechanical engineering knowledge and proven industry experience in an equivalent lead engineer role
  • Experience in manufacturing and injection moulding
  • Ability to drive technical direction within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Capability to consolidate complex and conflicting requirements into clear and deliverable commitments
  • Ability to specify technical requirements resulting in “right first time” designs
  • Strong understanding of product development lifecycle principles
  • Proven track record of taking a lead role in delivering products into volume production
  • Strong, assured, and confident technical leadership skills
  • Excellent presentation, communication, analytical, and numerical skills
  • Proactive, pragmatic, self-driven and motivated approach
  • Ownership, accountability, and resilience
