Mechanical Craftsperson – Ketton

Salary: £42,000 – £51,000
Location: Ketton
Hours: Full-time, 3-shift rotation


What’s On Offer

Join a high-performing team in a critical hands‑on role, maintaining and improving mechanical systems in a heavy industrial environment. This position’s prime objective is to improve equipment reliability by carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on the plant in line with the Heidelberg Maintenance Improvement Plan. Support the maintenance team leader, and be a central part of the maintenance team generally as outlined below by performing mechanical inspections and carrying out planned and corrective maintenance on the plant as directed by your team leader or managers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical fitting and maintenance on a wide range of equipment, incl. compressed air systems, process lines, vessels, conveyors, pumps, valves, filters
  • Milling systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes
  • Carry out welding, burning, and fabrication tasks
  • Use pulling/lifting gear and workshop machinery (lathes, milling machines, drill press)
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and take corrective action
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within a heavy or chemical industry
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and fault‑finding techniques
  • Skilled in workshop tools and fabrication
  • Safety‑conscious with a proactive approach to problem‑solving

Education / Qualification

NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent.
