Mechanical Contracts Manager

Location:Liverpool (office- and site-based)

Contract Type:Full-Time, Permanent

Salary:£65,000 + Car Allowance & Mileage

About the Company:

We are a well-established and growing building services contractor delivering mechanical and electrical projects across the North West. With a strong and consistent pipeline of residential and commercial work, we are seeking an experiencedMechanical Contracts Managerto join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of projects and play a key role in their successful delivery from pre-construction through to handover.

Role Purpose:

To manage and deliver multiple mechanical projects across residential and commercial sectors, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, consultants, and site teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Project & Contract Management

  • Manage projects from pre-construction through to completion and final handover
  • Oversee programme delivery, ensuring key milestones are achieved
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance
  • Ensure all works are delivered to required quality and compliance standards
  • Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle

Site & Team Management

  • Lead and coordinate site teams, including direct labour and subcontractors
  • Ensure effective communication across all project stakeholders
  • Monitor site progress and resolve any issues that arise
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure works are progressing as planned

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders
  • Act as the main point of contact for project-related communication
  • Attend and lead client and progress meetings
  • Ensure client expectations are managed and exceeded where possible

Commercial & Operational

  • Maintain strong commercial awareness across all projects
  • Support procurement and subcontractor management
  • Ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and added value

Person Specification:

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Mechanical Contracts Manager or similar role
  • Strong background delivering residential (particularly apartments) and/or commercial projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities
  • Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
  • Proactive, solutions-focused, and able to work independently

Desirable

  • Relevant mechanical or building services qualifications
  • Experience working within a fast-paced contracting environment
  • Knowledge of current building regulations and industry standards
